Georgia Robotics, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit Georgia corporation established to support robotics-related research and education at the Georgia Institute of Technology and in the state of Georgia. 

History

Georgia Robotics Inc. was founded in September 2006, primarily as a means to support the organization of a major research-centric robotics competition on the campus of Georgia Tech. Since that time GRI has expanded its scope to include distribution of educational robots, and the organization of significant robotics-related workshops and conferences.

2007: We organized RoboCup 2007 Atlanta on the campus of Georgia Tech as a way to show off our school to the elite researchers around the world. This was the first time this massive event was hosted on a college campus. RoboCup is the worlds largest research oriented robotics competition, with over 2,000 participants from universities all over the world. In 2007, GRI engaged dozens of local contractors to support the complex operation, bringing over $1M to Georgia Tech and the local economy.

2008-2010: In order support the scale up of an educational robotics effort initiated at Georgia Tech we licensed an educational robot design from GT. This robot was developed as part of the Institute for Personal Robots in Education. Eventually, the popularity of the robot and the chores of production and distribution exceeded the capacity of our modest staff, so we spun out a for-profit, betterbots.com which handles manufacture and sales of the robot now. More than 5,000 of these robots have been manufactured and sold: They are in use at over 30 universities, colleges and high schools.

2013: In 2013 we organized ICML 2013, the largest and most prestigious international academic Machine Learning conference. Nearly 900 professors, students and ML professionals attended.

2015: GRI establishes Robotics Fellowship at Georgia Tech.
